Occupational Therapist
Maude Le Roux is a highly specialized Occupational Therapist, with many years of clinical and supervisory experience, across a variety of therapeutic settings. She is SIPT (Sensory Integration & Praxis Test) Certified, holds a DIR Certificate, and has completed several Sound Therapy Certifications. She has been appointed as one of the international training team leaders in the DIR/ Floortime Certification process. Maude was born in South Africa and qualified as an Occupational Therapist from Stellenbosch University, where she also completed a Management Development Programme. She currently resides in Pennsylvania in the USA, where she is owner and Clinical Director of A TOTAL APPROACH, a holistic, multidisciplinary Therapy Centre, which treats attention, sensory, cognitive and learning disabilities and helps children to learn in their unique way.
Maude is highly regarded for her work and experience in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorders, Attachment Disorders, Dyslexia and other Learning Disorders.
She is a passionate learner, continuously attending training courses and international conferences across a spectrum of paediatric related areas, in her commitment to remain up to date and informed. Maude is a popular and sought- after presenter at American and international conferences, schools and trainings across a wide variety of settings and she inspires professionals around the world, with her practical and informative presentations and her vast clinical expertise. She is also respected mentor to many multidisciplinary therapists in the USA and abroad. Maude is also a board member of ATTACH and a trainer of the Tomatis and Interactive Metronome Programmes. She has co-authored a book “The Listening Journey” with Francoise Nicoloff and has just published her second book, “Our Greatest Allies”.
JUDITH TURIEL (ISRAEL)
Speech and Language Therapist
Judith Turiel Is a South African born Speech and Hearing Therapist. She worked at St. Vincent School for the Deaf in Johannesburg before relocating to Israel. For the past 25 years she has worked in both community settings and in her own private clinic, treating children of all ages with Speech, Language and Learning disorders. Judith has experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in Early Childhood Intervention. In 2012, she began her online Speech and Language clinic, ‘Within Reach’, which enables children and families from international communities where no local therapist is available, to have access to Speech and Language therapy services. Judith is passionate about teletherapy and currently works exclusively in the field, providing services to families in Indonesia, Bangladesh and China. Judith enjoys being inspired by new ideas and creative thinkers in the field of Speech, Language and Communication. She is constantly challenging herself to come up with exciting, creative and innovative ways to incorporate new ideas and learning into her teletherapy work.
ALISON DENT (SA)
Speech and Language Therapist
Alison Dent is a Speech and Language Therapist and has been in Private Practice since 1988. Her caseload includes adults with neurogenic disabilities and children with ASD, apraxia, language learning difficulties and disorders, classroom learning difficulties and APD. She is passionate about a multi- and transdisciplinary approach and has a special interest in Early Childhood Intervention. In her capacities as the portfolio chairs of both the Coding Committee and the Ethics and Standards Committees of the South African Speech Language Hearing Association (SASLHA), she has been closely involved with discussions with medical funder’s in terms of developing adequate and appropriate clinical and funder protocols. She has presented CPD accredited activities at numerous groups and functions. These have been pertaining to private practice issues, including, ethical coding and billing issues, employment pitfalls, working within relevant Acts of parliament. She is passionate about ethics and is committed to upholding the ethical framework of Allied Health Professionals. She aims to inform and guide practitioners regarding ethical practice. Together with Prof Anna-Marie Wium and Sefako Makgatho their abstract has been accepted to be presented at the International Conference on Clinical Ethics and Consultation (ICCE) Theme: Beyond Borders: Exploring new frontiers. Their submission relates to their theme of “Clinical Ethics, the Law and Society”.
